Re: That thread... You are all FAB!

TG I think you should rename yourself Teflon Girl :D

CMT and I were discussing you the other day and saying you seem like a lovely person with their head well and truly screwed on - I hope you have a lovely time on your holiday, and enjoy your riding in Sligo. Next time, get your dad to included Fermanagh in your trip and we will entertain you :) [thinks about all the yard jobs that need doing round here by an enthusiastic teenager ...:D]

TG - I am sorry I didn't read your thread after the first page yesturday.

Some of the comments were pretty mean and its a shame that it got into a slanging match.

The simple fact is that we are all built differently. If I wanted to be skinny I would have to be on the treadmill for 8 hours a day. Even when I was hidiously skinny (we are talking got sent to the doctors because waistline got smaller than neck) I still weighed in as "obese" on the BMI scale.

Use your judgement which I am sure you will in any case.

I have seen some riders bigger than you ride their horses as though they were a feather and I have seen light tiny riders slumped like potatoes on their horses backs. I have seen all sorts.

I am glad that you are ok about it all and just wanted to say good on you for sticking up for yourself.

Ta :)

Dolly is gorgeous! We're finding she has a few "quirks"! but nothing to worry about (so I'm assured by HHOs!!!) we'll be signing on the dotted line anytime soon, can't wait!!

PS eating cashew nuts now yum yum yum:p

Ah, she sounds ace!

Ooh I have rice crispies now!

Aww thank you :o

Hehe, I will!! I actually really love yard jobs.... I know I'm weird ok! :D

Didn't comment on that last thread as that would have bumped it up again, but just to say that if some of the comments made to you had been made to me I would have been very upset, and I am quite a few years older than you. Well done for not rising to it.

Have a lovely holiday:)

Cheers Spudlet! There are gonna be some huuuuuuge photo overloads soon!

(Eeeevery time I tried to type 'spudlet', it came out as 'spudley' ! :D)

Oohh straight away :D

Yum :D

On another note, are you feeling a bit better now? Xx

Walkingman - thank you for your concern :o I kinda know where you're coming from now, and rest assured come September I'll be thinking a bit more carefully about what I eat, just that I have almost no structure to my day till then, unless I'm working or riding. I'm also not gorging on chocolate either, I have a relatively healthy diet anyway! Its not that bad!! x

Argh, were not going there! :( We are going through Wicklow, and popping down to Kerry for for days to stay near my best friends :D My dad really wants to go to Dingle, so hopefully well see the dolphin (Fungie, isn't it?)

~
Brighteyes... What can I say? I am awfully sorry that the little man was so ill, RIP xx

With regards to using my judgement, I asked the hho-ers because I genuinely did not know. When i started riding, I was never put on smaller ponies much. The places I started at only really had 13-14hh, it wasn't very big, and probably not the best place to start riding, but I'm glad I did start as now I have an amazing pastime to keep me fit and sane. Also, I haven't even seen pics of this 12hh pony I might have ridden. I don't know how stocky it is, so had no clue. I though asking the forum-ers would be my best option.

I really do value your opinion, as an instructor you are a lot more knowledgeable than me. but we really don't seem to agree on anything. Maybe putting me on user ignore would be best for us? Ta for thinking of me, and I hope daughter and pony get sorted out soon x

He wasn't ill - he was OVERFED, until he developed laminitis. There is a word for wanton overfeeding of animals - cruelty. Intentional or not. Humans are mostly spared this devastating consequence of consuming more than is ideal. This is not a dig. This is fact. And another pony is gone.

Forgive my rant - I am extremely upset.

I've never posted before but often read and get advice from the forum, but i felt I had to say something in response to this and your other recent post.

You are fab to take things so likely and sensible to ask advice when you are not so sure. I wonder how many other 16 year olds can say they are confortable with their looks and bodies.

As a society that often gets stick from the outside world/has a reputation as being "bitchy" surely us horsey fock should be sticking together rather than being so rude to one another.

Have a great holiday TG

I was gonna put a thread on about why are peeps so damned rude and insensitive, almost downright cruel on here - but that would end in tears too, wouldn't it *sigh*. Some people have nothing better to do than bitch, and what really annoyed me is that new posters obviously hadn't read any but the original post, and then went barging in with their size 11's, when it had all been discussed and sorted right on the first page. And if you have not suffered with an eating disorder, don't even start on the factors that can trigger it.

To those that have to pick on others to feel good about themselves GET A LIFE !!!!

TG have a fantatic holiday, and looking forward to the riding pics (((((((((hugs)))))) sm x

I cant tell you how furious that other thread made me! I didnt want to bump it up but just had to express my disgust yesterday!

I can only say I wish i had been as mature and sensible at your age as you are! In fact I know your more sensible than me now ;) :) You're a poster on here that always stands out for replying thoughtfully to each and every person and those people who decided to attack you are no better than those bullies in the playground. Thankfully you are sensible enough to ignore them and not let them get to you, well done plenty couldnt.

Enjoy Ireland xxxx

I can imagine it got deleted and good, TG isn't a laminitic pony but a flesh and blood human being, if she's happy, let her be happy, not force your help on someone who doesn't want or feel they need it! She's clearly savvy, sensible and kind and I know a lot of very skinny people can't add that to their CV, I know which I'd rather!!

Cheers guys! *group hug!*

You're all gonna wish you hadn't said 'take loads of pics' now! :p

Brighteyes - in that case, I'm sorry pony didn't get the care that he needed x

Aww TG how could we not stick up for you?! If you were driven out of this forum I'd be going too! Some people on here just look for any excuse to bitch and moan and bully! :p We all love you lots on here and love you just the way you are - happy, funny, and kind. I too had an unpleasant time when I was a really young kid and at one point was very underweight, not because I was ever fat, I was just unhappy with how I looked altogether! Luckily I bulked up, and am now happy and healthy with wonderful friends. You can't let faceless people on a forum get you down! :)

Too cheesy? Ahhh well. Was worth it :D xx

T_G, I just have to say how much I admire your unbelievably good nature :) your posts are always an absolute joy to read, you clearly love the horses you ride and have an incredible attitude to learning more about them. If you're half as patient with the horses as you are with some people on this forum, then they're very lucky to have met you.

Three cheers, hun, enjoy your holidays because you deserve them. Have a hot chocolate on me :p

Ditto this ^^^^^^ I read a little of the 'am I to big' (i think it was that) post, and have obviously missed a lot, but getting the gist here.

There are a lot of people who are unnecessarily rude all the time and it is lovely to read posts and replies form someone such as yourself who thinks before she types. I can only hope to learn from you!!!

I think you are amazing just the way you are.

I am overweight but have decided at 46 years old that there is a lot more to life than worrying about what I stick in my mouth on a daily basis. I try to eat sensibly (most of the time) and exercise regularly but just don't seem to be able to get any slimmer.

When I was young I was a 7 stone weakling and now I am positively reubinesque but hey my hubby loves me just the way I am so alls good :)

Go go go TG!!!

Rubenesque is such a fab word! :D

Go go go bessieboo! xx

Have a great holiday TG, with some great canters!

Speak to the organiser/ride leader to check if/when you can expect to canter. Rides should be kept down to the speed of the most inexperienced/nervous rider for safety reasons, but I'm sure most yards would try to let you have a canter if possible. Often they will split the ride into groups if necessary to allow this. There's nothing like cantering in an open space. Maybe even some jumping????

x

Thanks l :)

Heh, no problem! she us an ace horse, so genuine, I love her ! If your ever having a Pally craving I'll get some more xx

Hi TG

I'm basically a lurker but had to come out of my shadows(!) to say how I always click on your threads and look forward to your posts because you're so upbeat and so generous and articulate with sharing your journey and knowledge. You're clearly a beautiful girl and you are absolutely perfect. You look so joyful in your sig, and it is obvious you love the horses you ride immensely.

It still amuses me that people who get on their soapboxes on anonymous forums (you especially see this in newspaper comments sections these days) don't realise that all they are ever doing is simply displaying to the world their own issues and insecurities - and revealing to the world what painful and restrictive terms they view it, and themselves, in. They hate living with all those artificial self-imposed internal apartheids so instead of just suffering with it they try and spread their poison in a desperate attempt to keep their worldview valid.

I'll say it again: you're a beautiful girl, you are absolutely perfect, and if I had an ounce of the generosity and nous at 16 that you have!

It brings to mind Kerilli's thread about the best advice you've heard, and this was quoted:

'Those that mind don't matter. Those that matter don't mind'.

I admire you TG for the way you have handled the situation, I have to say at your age there is no chance in hell I could have taken that kind of critisism! to be honest I still can't now aged 20!

Having a 17.1hh means no one can ever make such comments though :p

Thanks guys!! :D that really means a lot to me :o

I am quite outspoken, and it does take a lot to shut me up :p
xxxxx

Will hopefully be going to the wednesday night dressage at Olympia this year (or something like that!)

One of these days, I am going to take a week off and buy myself a season ticket and go see EVERYTHING! :D
