Re. The "Am i too big" Post

IMO.....not a problem.

I used to ride my sons 12hh welshie...I'm 5 5" and weight 55kg fully clothed ( about 8st 9lb)...she was 5/6 years old.

People underestimate how much weight horses can carry- especially natives....although obviously if its buckling at the knees....you may have an issue;)

Hehe. He's on a serious weight loss programme right now..just bought his and he is that obese he has fat lumps on his ribs..

I've always ridden my young cousins ponies. If she has a problem, one's misbehaving or one needs schooling i hop on. Our ponies are home produced and we pride ourself in that. I just think sometimes they need more than a little jockey on top when learning new things..eg beginning to work in an outline, introducing canter work. As soon as this starts to become established i stop riding them and my cousin takes over. Eventually she'll be able to do all of this herself :)

I DO have a problem with older riders/adults working f/ridden ponies etc in at shows with their heads strapped to their chests before the child gets on..
