My mark todd mediumweight has been in the wash a couple of times and since this it has leaked slighty when ponio is out in the rain, I know I need to waterproof it but was wondering what the best thing to use would be that would keep it waterproof the longest any suggestions??

Not sure of the name of the stuff I have used this year but I bought it in Millets , its for reproofing tents. You can paint it on or put it in a trigger bottle and spray it. It cost about £23 and I have done 6 rugs and my favourite baby blue (stupid I know) yard jacket , still have some left. A real bargain.

If your rug is leaking, the waterproof membrane may be deteriateing (sp), how did you wash it?
If you used detergent, aerial, persil etc then this is, whats caused it.

I wash and reproof using nikwax (professionally) and have not had a leaking rug yet.

A proof may well make it shower proof but may not keep out a heavy downpour.

In a wash?

It was washed in fairy non bio as I was told this is the only one safe for horses, and it doesn't cause itching or an allergic reaction where can I get fabsil from?

I got mine from Go outdoors. A big bottle did 2 x 5'9 combos and a 4'6. Dont do it indoors tho it flipping stinks!

I use just tesco non bio just i would use on my own waterproof jacket. I always thought as long as it was non bio it was ok. I am another vote for johnsons water seal the one for fabrics, i no people who do their tents with it too.

Even if it is non bio it is still a detergent and this is what strips the waterproofing from rugs and outdoor coats. If I am doing a rug or coat in my machine I always scrub all of the detergent from the dispenser drawer and then wash with nikwak rug wash.

Hope that helps.
