Reaction to vaccination ?

Mine's muscles used to all tighten up and she couldn't walk properly or put her head down to eat or drink, so everything had to be held or raised up for her (until we started to get he injections in her chest), so it could be :)

Yup, my mare got a enormous swelling on her neck the day after and had a mild form of flu and was ill for about a week after :(
Rang vets and they said its okay just a reaction to the jab, but she's not having it done again unless she's moving/showing!

My mare reacts very badly, she gets the shivers and goes into full princess mode. She has to have a second injection as a sort of antidote now and never has the injection in the neck - in fact I will not have the flu in the neck for any of my horses.

It happens with all injections, the first time we thought it was because she fell in water and cut her self quite badly and had antibiotics, the second time, she had a microchip done at the same time, so we thought it was that... but she just can't handle them being in her neck, we have to get the back lady out to loosen her up a bit :( so chest all the time :)

Phone your vet he may suggest some bute for a few days.

My mare reacts badly and the first time we had her jabbed she wouldn't eat ir drink as refused to move her neck. Now we jab in her bum and give her bute for a few days and she's okay.

It appears more common than I realised.

Agree with other poster about raising feed / water / hay for a few days too as my mare refused to eat off floor even with bute.
