Reactions to spot ons (behavioural)

I generally use Advantage and Drontal for the dogs and cats. Quarrie initially had Advocate as part of a package with his jags. The first lot of Advantage led to rolling about. The second lot had a much bigger reaction and he was quite distressed for 20 minutes or so. I asked the vet for something else (can't remember what it was but was fipronil) and we had another reaction-although not as bad as the second Advantage.

Anyone else had this problem and are there any alternative products (as in different drugs, not 'alternative' products).

Tiva had reaction to advocate it gave her violent diarrhoea. As it happened twice running my vet agreed it was s reaction to the advocate and she completed the yellow report card. I now use milbamax for the worms and bravecto for the fleas and ticks. No reactions

Yes, a friend's dog has quite an extreme reaction to spot on treatments. So now uses tablets instead.

thank you both-he didn't react to the Advocate but last vet was reluctant to let me have it due tot he worming side of it. Will look into some different ones.

Interesting: poor Arthur had his Broadline 2/3 days ago, he ended up with most of it on his coat rather than skin, so I assumed that caused the problem [ultra loose poops], I am not sure what to do now as he is a former stray and does not like restraint. I dread ever having to take him to a vet. Maybe he will take a tablet in Cat Lickits.
Is Broadline the same as Avocate, the volume is v different.

One of mine started acting odd within an hour of him being treated with a spot on, it was actually burning him! Hence the behaviour. He now gets an oral remedy - still has the scar, poor boy.

Switch to Bravecto or Nexgard Spectra if he's reacting to various different spot ons, it's likely to be the excipients in the spot ins rather than the active ingredient he's reacting to.
