I posted recently about feeding mainly alfalfa and as a result of the replies have decided to reduce the amount and bulk up by using a grass product.

The dilemma is should I use a Readigrass type product or nuts?

My horses get a token feed of alfalfa and a balancer during summer but in winter they will be getting 3 full meals a day comprising of a hard feed normally mixed with a scoop of TopChop Alfa plus their balancer.

I can see pros and cons of feeding either grass product but wonder if I'm missing something obvious.

I do feed TopSpec cool condition cubes over winter so can easily soak these with grass nuts then add half a scoop of alfa, or should I just add half a scoop of alfalfa and half a scoop of Readigrass to the nuts?

Hi , I prefer the Readigrass as it doesnt turn to mush , so it gives their digestive system something to work on , so they feel fuller for longer and as its keeping their system working on food you tend not to get gut problems .
