Hi all, just a general musing about Readigrass and it's possible effects on horses energy levels!
Has anyone ever experienced it hotting their horses up? I fed it to my previous horse as weight gain (poor doer), but never noticed a change in energy as he was always quite highly strung and stressy.
New horse now gets it, but in lesser quantities, as had loads left over. He is only 5, 15.3hh IDx in light work, and will sometimes get excited when turning out (will buck and canter off - only sometimes). Has very good manners generally and when ridden is polite, even if you can tell he's excited for whatever reason (horses being led past when being ridden in arena alone, things like that).
A friend of mine keeps telling me it's the Readigrass, it's very heating & that I should change to chaff - for me, it's that he's young and just gets excited, lack of experience etc... But you know what happens when someone plants a seed of doubt lol.
Opinions/experiences, please? I'm thinking putting him on a balancer as our grazing could be better. Recent batch of hay isn't great either.
Thanks in advance.
