Hi,
After reading on here this am about Spillers discontinuing Readigrass, i decided to email them, here is the reply:-

Unfortunately we are discontinuing the Readigrass. We have made this decision over a number of months as we now offer a large range of fibre feeds as well as hard feeds, including Cool Fibre, Conditioning Fibre and the Winergy Equilibrium Range, and there is simply not enough call for Readigrass to justify us distributing the product.

However Readigrass will still be available, just not under the Spillers name as it will no longer be distributed us. If you would like any more information on how you can get hold of this product, the best thing to do would be phone the manufacturers, Friendship Estates. Their contact number is: 01302 700220.

i'm now a happy bunny as the other similar product i have tried, Northern Crop Dryers Graze On the neds were not impressed with!

Thats more info than I've been able to get out of two different feed merchants in the last week.

Thanks loads. At least I know the situation now. I bet they won't supply to NI any more though.

tell me about it!! we sell most of it to guniea pig and goat people and they were panic buying the stuff!!

i know most of the feed stores around me pretty much only stock Spilllers, i dont know why but whatever feed i use, ends up being discontinued

anyone remember Spillers Peguses (sp) Minty Mix?? One of my horses LOVED it - they stopped it, said 'o well this is the same, just a different name' - horse wouldnt touch it

funny - my horses don't like NCD's Grazeon either - and to me it has the texture of pine needles compared with readigrass (although it is easier to get out of the bag than Readigrass)

Thompsons are the main importer into NI, all the smaller merchants get from them, so hopefully we will still get it.

Fingers crossed.

Update to above post - I have phoned friendship estates this morning, and passed on the number of John Thompsons in Belfast who are the main importers of Spillers feed into NI, and the smaller feed merchants buy from them. I don't know if other brands work the same way though.
I have also left a message with Thompsons asking are they going to continue buying it in.
If anyone else in NI wants to phone as well (weight of numbers and all that) it would be great.

Friendship Estates are the Northern producers of the well known brands HorseHage and Mollichaff. ReadiGrass has been their baby since they conceived the idea for the product many years ago. ReadiGrass was given the Spillers branding at aid distribution, which it very successfully did.

ReadiGrass is now so popular it can carry itself and Friendship Estates are keen to maintain all its previous distributors.

ReadiGrass is available in NI through Thompsons as before. Other suppliers are on the company's website.

Don't accept alternatives when the best is definately still available.
