Realistic pricing in todays market

A local lady who buys/sells horses has asked me to help out as/when i can which im happy to do as i feel if it benefits the horses then thats great (she isnt the most experienced)

However if im gonna help out i feel i need to be able to be honest with her with regard to the condition/presentation of the horses and their prices
Or should i keep my mouth shut?

As an example do you helpful HHOers feel these prices are realistic?

Bay tobiano mare rising 3, 14.2hh approx, out of a "tb cross type mare by a chunky 16hh coloured gypsy cob" (heights/breeds of sire/dam guesses as they belong to farmer who lets them all roam pretty much wild) - £1500

5 year old bay welsh d mare with good bloodlines, apparently broken in but not confirmed (she would probably need complete restarting), is very headshy so needs lots of work - £1500

4 year old chestnut tb mare, raced 3 times but was too slow then had brief reschooling period, not worked for months so again needs restarting, very blemished - numerous deep scars from accidents in lorry and field (currently recovering from wire injury to back of knee), weaves - £700

All are slightly unkempt, manes need pulling/tails trimming/general tidying up required...

Opinions?
 
Wont comment on the other 2 but the Welsh mare is very very over priced, £500 might be slightly more realistic as she is, broken & going nicely she should be worth a bit more....as for bloodlines...dont tell me Nebo Black Magic? Derewen Railway Express? Ebbw Victor? Something along those lines?
 
Not sure navaho as to bloodlines - only going by what lady said to me (I have a Welsh d gelding who imo is much closer to breed type than this mare - she is quite fine boned, much lighter built etc than my idea of a Welsh cob)
 
The Welsh sounds new type.

Tbh a horse is worth what someone will pay for them. If I walked into a field and knew that was my horse it would be far more than one that was perfect in every which way but did nothing for me.

I'd keep nose out of pricing and only interfere if I wasn't happy with welfare unless otherwise asked

I don't see that the prices are anything to do with you if you don't have a financial interest.
If she wants you to ride and school and present horses to purchasers she should be paying you imho.
Anyone who has limited knowledge of horses won't last long as a dealer, I have been trying to sell mine for ages, and there are no buyers!

She could probably half the prices and still have little interest IMO


EDIT Didn't see the changed prices in the 2nd post, my comment on halving prices stands for he original post, so TB 350, welsh and pony 750.

Sorry but no one is going to pay £1500 for an ex racer that hasn't been retrained and has very blemished legs when you can get the same thing (minus the blemished legs) straight from a trainer for £500
 
I quite like the sound of the tb mare, prob worth around £300- £500 max if she needs a complete overhall and she weaves...

do you know what her blood lines are?
 
Thanks guys - it not just me then, the prices I would've expected are very similar to what you've all said

Again felt same as to not mentioning pricing - except I wouldn't be paid for my assistance so could end up helping out forever on same horses when prices are unrealistic...if they were priced accordingly they should sell fairly quickly as they aren't huge sums of money.
