Really angry - Dax's old owner

Good gal :D

Just reading back I am sure I sound a bit elitist, but I am talking about my frame of reference where the sports are dominated by sheps and Mals, dobes and rotts.
There is at least one standard Poodle competing in the UK, American bulldogs and I am sure you are all bored to death of the Mister Murphy (JRT) full Sch III protection routine video :D .

There is no doubt that some of these crosses are stunning looking dogs (Kareef has a beautiful, beautiful dog!), but this planet is saturated with dogs, already many, many breeds which remain fit for the purpose they were bred for, and are out doing it every day, and manage to be loving family pets at the same time - aesthetics have never mattered less in terms of a reason to breed or cross IMO.

Oi, I posted definitive proof of husky obedience on the previous page! :p :D

Admittedly, tracking? Protection work? Extended periods of obedience in a competitive setting? Point taken. :p

They've added a photo to that advert I posted above... aaaaaargh.

OH has already threatened a walkout if I get another one! :p Though I'm sure he'd be persuaded if we ever get a house with a big enough garden that we could have proper kennels and runs put in.

I've just been reminded that another feather in the cap of the Malinois is that they can apparently parachute and/or abseil out of helicopters on their own, for which I am going to demand photographic evidence. :p

Sheps can do that too :p and I think *gulp* so can Spangles!!!

Yeah but out there they do the sensible thing and send the spangles in first to clear the road of IEDs so the sheps can saunter through at their leisure. :D ;) :p

*flees from the angered spangle hordes* They don't blow them up deliberately, promise!

Just do as I do and tell OH your having another lol he told me I wasnt getting a third yet drove me 150 miles to see the litter and actually chose her and then drove me 150 miles to pick madam up lol lol

Not all Inuits are bad, Chimo does obedience and agility. her recally is a bit iffy sometimes but as she gets older (she is 2.5) she is getting much better.

I doubt you will be seeing us at crufts but she does try. we had an obedience rally a few weeks ago and she won her class and got best dog of the night.

she would be no good at protection work as she is too soft but loves to run and we go for about an hour each day. she is hard work sometims but she is worth it.

No one is saying any dogs are bad, Frankie :)

My frame of reference is, what would a GSDxhusky bring to my particular disciplines and someone looking for a certain type of dog to do something with.

Blackcob has already suggested why someone looking for a sled/harness dog might cross the two breeds.

Schutzhund is a sport and a breed selection tool.
Obviously a cross breed would not be used in a GSD breeding programme, so that leaves the sporting angle and I don't know of any which are competing right now. The reasons why GSDs excell at this sport, would IMO be diminished by the introduction of blood from a breed which is bred to do something different entirely.

That leaves the pet angle. They look fantastic and I believe they make a slightly more high-octane pet than say, a straight GSD or a straight husky. I prepare to be corrected on that, I am sure there are plenty of both breeds who do not give us an easy ride :p

So just wondering if they are being bred for aesthetics, or any other reason?

well chaos (as you are all probably sick of hearing) is BSD x husky, he is definately aesthetically pleasing and he is way more energetic than most of the GSD i have met. i doubt he would make a 'straight' pet where he didnt have a lot to do, i think he would just destroy the house. he is showing promise for agility when he has 'i will behave and listen to you' head on and certainly enjoys going jogging with me so i may do a bit of cani-x with him once i get fit enough to keep up with him over a long distance, lol

Siberian Husky for stud, white and red fantastic loving dog not KC but full husky £100.

Many, many apologies to the person I offended and reported me to admin for the words I used to describe a dog's boy bits.

Personally I find indiscriminate, random breeding and studding of any old pet dog without any real health testing - for profit - while rescues are bursting and dogs are being abandoned and given away every day, much more offensive than a word relating to a rooster and a word relating to spherical objects used in many popular sports but hey, each to their own....

Sorry for the late reply, but I had to think for a while to be able to say what I wanted to say.

Just because I can let my fountain pen's ink flow out over a page, I may still choose to let its nib, stay inside the cap and write with a pencil instead.

He must have been an amazing little dog. It must have been really annoying for his owner the way people were laughing, he was actually a cracking little worker.

Oh, snap - I am very guilty of laughing at that clip, especially when he first launches himself out of the car, then I feel really bad as he's doing a pretty damn good job!

Thank you for the link, it was such a pleasure to watch! :D

;) Evidence of what the Jack Russell Terriers always have known, anything large dogs can do, they can do better!

I giggled now and then because I felt he was doing so well, I enjoyed watching him and it is after all, not exactly the size of dog that you expect to see doing such work! So I do feel he was cute, at the same time as I'm impressed over what he could do.

:D
