Just reading back I am sure I sound a bit elitist, but I am talking about my frame of reference where the sports are dominated by sheps and Mals, dobes and rotts.
There is at least one standard Poodle competing in the UK, American bulldogs and I am sure you are all bored to death of the Mister Murphy (JRT) full Sch III protection routine video

There is no doubt that some of these crosses are stunning looking dogs (Kareef has a beautiful, beautiful dog!), but this planet is saturated with dogs, already many, many breeds which remain fit for the purpose they were bred for, and are out doing it every day, and manage to be loving family pets at the same time - aesthetics have never mattered less in terms of a reason to breed or cross IMO.
