Really annoyed now!

So my big boy came to me having never been in a school - now 3 years down the line we are out and winning prelims (took it nice a slow!). We are entered for our first novice this weekend and I was really looking forward to it - he's been going like a dream - and now he has an abccess

I'm soooooooo upset - my instructor said he could have easily been placed if he went the way he is at home

. Why do they do it?! (ok I know it's not his fault!!). Also I now have a purple thigh where he kicks he whilst i'm trying to poulitice his foot!!!

thats a shame, horses do seem to have a habit of becoming injured at bad times. i know plenty who always seem to wait until the weekend and vet call outs are very expensive.
hope to see some piccies when he's better and out winning. lucky u seem like a patient person.

Big hugs! Horses know to a minute when to go unsound/develop an abscess, etc, etc ..... and they all do it! Just focus on how well he will go at the next event, when he's back in work and has had a chance to build on his schooling so he's even better!

Oh no, what a pain! I hate horses at the mo! Had BD and SJ lesson cancelled last week cos of snow! Now re-booked lesson for sat and the little sod has ripped a front shoe off!! GRRRRRRRRRRR! Naughty naughty horses!!!!!

thanks i'm not really patient!! He went off for schooling then we had a nasty accident that put us both out for about 6 months - after that we started re-schooling and now we are (were!) at the stage where we should shoot through novice classes in a couple of months to go onto elementary/medium! Depends how well he works!!
