really blonde question BE points

hi

just looking on the BE results are why do some horses get points and others dont?
some that finish on there dressage dont and some do, does it matter if you dont go double clear? time faults do they have an effect?

1st-6th in novice and above get points. All double clears at novice get 1 point if theyve finished out of the placings. At I its 2 for DC and at A its 4

Sometimes you might see a score that has not got a placing by it (if looking at a horse or rider record) - this means that they were HC as they have too many points to compete for a prize or place in that class.

However good their score, they won't get a placing or points!

Is that what you meant?

If you click on that horses name, it will show its record, and you can see how many points it has.

ok! but last year @ belton some body in the JRN section finished on there dressage score and didnt get any points?

You won't get points in a nov comp if the horse already has 20 points as it is then out of Nov but still allowed to compete in JRN, can get placed but not points.

i always find it odd that you can gets points for dc even if your overtime?

you dont if youre over the time in the SJ. you have to finish the showjumping with zero including no time and then you are allowed time faults xc. i guess its stops alot of people belting their horses round to get points.
eventing ireland you only get points if you finish on your dressage score... unless of course youre placed!

points go in the ratio of 1 person with points to every four starters.
so if 40 starters,,points go to 10th.
