This might not be much of an achievement to some. But I got accepted into uni yesterday to study equine science!
Before anyone tells me its not worth it because there's no jobs/money in it....big fat raspberry to you, I don't care. I had no qualifications to gain a place on the course, I got in purely because I've worked my arse off to gain as much industry experience as I could. I worked for a very nasty lady who told me I would never get anywhere in my career and that nobody would ever accept me on a course... It feels good to be able to say I showed her!
I'm deferring my place this year as after leaving my last job I've found it difficult to get back on my feet financially, horse injuring itself costing me thousands and my partner's recent bike crash has meant we have a lot of lost savings to recover. It also means I can let my back injury heal fully before I get back in the saddle as part of my course. I'm looking forward to getting everything ready to finally do what I've been working for all these years.
