This might not be much of an achievement to some. But I got accepted into uni yesterday to study equine science! :D
Before anyone tells me its not worth it because there's no jobs/money in it....big fat raspberry to you, I don't care. I had no qualifications to gain a place on the course, I got in purely because I've worked my arse off to gain as much industry experience as I could. I worked for a very nasty lady who told me I would never get anywhere in my career and that nobody would ever accept me on a course... It feels good to be able to say I showed her!
I'm deferring my place this year as after leaving my last job I've found it difficult to get back on my feet financially, horse injuring itself costing me thousands and my partner's recent bike crash has meant we have a lot of lost savings to recover. It also means I can let my back injury heal fully before I get back in the saddle as part of my course. I'm looking forward to getting everything ready to finally do what I've been working for all these years.

Well done to you. The qualification is what you make of it, what you can take from what you learn and the people you get to meet. Just because some people waste their chances it doesn't mean that you aren't going to be a huge success :D

Thanks for everyone's lovely comments. I'll be going to myerscough college. Not my first choice but I had to stay close to home as I didn't want to move the horses and we have our house ten minutes from the campus. I'll be even more pleased in 2016 when I graduate. All your comments mean a lot to me :)

Well done! :D

If your defering for a year I'd do some reading on Alevel biology, just done my first year in equine science and having an alevel in biology helped loads! PM me if you want more stuff to read up on that will help your first year, I'm not at the same uni but it will all be similar stuff.

Well done :) I work in a University admissions department and I can say how hard it is for people getting places this year- I have never made so many people unsuccessful so even bigger well done to you!!

Wow that's really boosted my mood as I got in purely on experience and a pre entry assignment! Can't wait for next year to come around :)

Congrats! Very jealous! I started an equine course 2 years ago but had a car crash and couldn't continue.
Bet it will be loads of fun and interesting! Enjoy it!

I think one of the most comment criticisms from employers is that they take on people who then can't turn theory into practice but it sounds like the way you've done it means you are totally on top of that side of things and, as someone else said, a course/degree is what you make it. Well done and have a fantastic time when you eventually start!
