I’ve just seen a very popular thread, as in lots of replies asking if anyone else’s jack x chihuahua growls and snarls if you kiss their faces because they are asking for more 🙄

The photos are unbelievable, dogs cowering down snarling whilst being showered in kisses. One a video clip of a child kissing and snarling back at the poor dog, noses literally touching.

Made me feel a bit sick. It’s a private group so can’t be linked but I know a dog is a dog, TF these idiots only have really tiny ones. Could still do a nasty amount of damage to a child’s face :(

People are stupid. Years ago I worked for some people who had a chihuahua. It was the most nasty little tike on 4 legs! It bit their child and had the postman off his bike every single morning. Evil little swine. I wouldn't trust one after knowing that one.

yeah there’s a lot of people who can’t be bothered with training that just get a small dog because they’re “easy” and can’t do much (completely wrong)
So they’re just out of control
I say this knowing a girl who has a Chihuahua who is the spawn of satan but it’s fine because she can pick him up 🤦🏻‍♀️
Tries to bark and bite anything or anyone walking past. Most awful thing to walk with..headache 4 minutes in

I’ve never known a full chihuahua. My daughter has, and he’s probably mine really a half chi and he gets snarly.
Not with me but if someone he doesn’t know pushes themselves at him, which annoyingly people try too.
I tell people visiting to completely ignore him. He will then approach slowly. Sniff and often end up in their lap. I’d not trust him in a million years for a child to kiss.
He’s a lovely dog but just wouldn’t handle that and that’s fair enough I think.

I used to dog sit for a lady who had three chihuahuas.

They were honestly the most gentle natured, charming little beings.

Perfect to walk off lead on the open forest, polite with dogs and people and just a joy to look after.

If I had not seen footage, I would struggle to believe that the breed can be anything but angelic.

Worked with dogs for years, but have only ever been bitten once, that was as a kid doing a paper round, lady opened the door and Pepe (chihuahua) latched onto the back of my ankle.
God it bloody hurt so hate to imagine what a proper full on attack would feel like.

This. In our family we now own 5 purebred, and all are amazing little dogs. They are treated as dogs, not toys.

I have a feeling Sammi is part chihuahua. He's very growly indeed if you try to pick him up, but he's never bitten, even when I picked him up after being hit by a car and with a broken leg. He's a sweet little macho guy.View attachment 134184
Ahh he looks like Lucy, a little dog in out village, no idea what she is. She’s much, umm more voluptuous than Sammi but very sweet and had the most amazing feeling coat. Like inch long velvet

I know a JRT x Chihuahua. He looks like a mini JRT with a rounder nose. He’s more chihuahua in his character and short coated. His siblings were all long coated, although more JRT in their characters. He’s a tiny little dog and very sweet. He has been know to growl when intimidated (clueless previous owner!) but is pretty laid back now, apart from he doesn’t do rain, at all 😂. I can’t imagine him being truly aggressive, he couldn’t be bothered I don’t think and isn’t brave at all.

My old JRT was a beautiful natured girl. She only ever snarled once. She was at my sister in laws (with me) and SiLs granddaughter aged about 10 was staying and kept picking her up. I said several times please don't pick the dog up ever more forcefully each time. Tilly then started putting her ears back when the child came close. Then she wandered into the furthest corner of the room and sat with ears back. I turned my back for 30 seconds and heard snarling suddenly. Bloody child was right up in the dogs face kneeling in front of her with her nose an inch from Tillys mouth. Tilly was proper full on snarling. I went a bit bonkers and child cried of course. I could not make SiL understand that if my dog bit her grandchilds face the blame would lie with the grandchild but the actual blame would land on my dog.
I never allowed that child near any of my dogs again as she was not to be trusted. Tilly never ever snarled again.

Chi's JRTs and small terrier types need to be treated as dogs not dolls. Mine do beg and jump on the sofa and I guess I should stop them. But they do not show aggression if I pick them up/remove food or toys/move them off the furniture etc and would be sharply reminded of good behaviour and manners if they did. Just treat them like dogs no matter how small they are and usually they will be happy.
