really decent TO rug for winter..........

Pro-Tuff Heavyweight, cost less than £60 is totally waterproof and very cozy.
Here is my mare modelling hers. It's a heavy rug though, really if the temperature got above say 3c it would be too much for some horses, it was for her, but on the really cold days she seemed really happy in it

They also come up really large, this is a 6ft6, and really she could have done with a 6ft3.

wow these sound like good rugs, just been reading about them online :)

I found an Aerborn rug on Ebay, barely used - 1200 denier, 450g, full neck. I honestly think that this is the best rug that I have bought so far. It's so well made.

Personally, I don't like the clip system on the Rambo wugs and have had them removed and replaced with straps and buckles before now. Other than that, I love Bucas and Weatherbeta. Shires are good rugs as well, and seem to be deeper in the body. I don't buy 600 denier rugs unless it is for a horse that is in an individual paddock. They rip too easily and the fabric just doesn't last well.

I rate the Rambos and the Premier Equines.
I like the Rambo Wug design - usually enough to keep my cob warm, but for the really cold nights I have my Arctic explorer rug, a silver full necked 450g Premier Equine.

Bucas power turnout simply the best!

I agree, these keep the horses warm down to about minus 21 (coming from Scotland this is a good thing after the last couple of winters), mine's has never ripped needed to be repaired etc. they are expensive, but I've had mine now for 4 years still going good.
I also have WB Tri-Star (the original one and the new one), a coupe of taka's and some Orion's (yes I have far too many rugs), I really like the Mark Todd rugs as well, particulary if you want a neck cover.

Premier equine have got a 25% discount at the moment if you get a code off their facebook page.

I just ordered the buster trio set yesterday, got it for £168 instead of £224.
