Today making up Dexters teatime feed, I got out the last of the Alfalfa.

Ususally I would use a scoop, but with there only being a small amount left, I just tipped it in his buckket, and stirred around with my hand.

Well, as I was doing this, I felt something really odd in it.............it was a FOOT!!!!!!!! I think from a rabbit.

GROSS, GROSS, GROSS.
I feel a phone call coming Dodson and Horralls way on Monday!!

I had a dead pigeon in my stable this morning my horse had stomped on it

I have a friend who works in food safety and has worked for several large food manufacturers and supermarkets who won't bad an eyelid at tales of dead animals in food - used to seeing 3-4 a week from customers returning totally gross food!

Ewwwwww

i foudn a dead mouse floatign in a water bucket once
crazy.gif

Infact even worse was when i was cleanign out a trough from one of the summer fields (so no horses in for a good few months) and the water was green so i just stuck my hand in and started scrubbing , felt a few odd things thought it was just slime...it wasnt it was the remains of a squirel all yucky
crazy.gif

I then went to clean the other trough which is slightly bigger , i wasnt gunna stick my hand straight in that one ! so tipped it out and.... 4 dead squirels poured out of it

Horrid way to die, I put a bit of plank in all my troughs now so at least they have a life raft.

My sister used to eat Bourbon bisuits by breaking off the top layer, licking the choccy filling then eating the biscuits - she once broke up the top and found a rather large dead moth glued into the choccy filling!

Once found an enormous dead bloated rat in a water trough - friend picked it out on a shovel and through it into the muck trailer. The memory of this flying bloated rat silhouetted against the sunset was priceless

we have had an animal skull of some kind in our haylage at work, and a long bone from an animal!

One winter, having found a couple of dead rats in the overnight soaking sugar beet, we made sure the bucket soaking for the horses was safely put away, and made up buckets of water with a little bit of sugar beet in as rat-traps. We caught loads that way!! (But it only worked that winter...)

I found a bird's wing in my Good-doer and got a voucher to replace the bale and also a £20 voucher for other food. Had to send them the bale number off the plastic wrapping so helps if you've kept it.

I have worse....I once found half a dead mouse in my horses manger.....horse was fine.

I found a huge coiled up dead earthworm in the bottom of a pot of colslaw from safeways years ago and the very next week a lump of chewed, chewing gum in some fresh mince from safeways butchers!!! Yeuk.

Often find dead rabbit bits in the water trough, skulls and feet mosly. Always cleaning them out. Do predators wash the pieces before they eat them I wonder, otherwise why would they be there?
