Really hope I've got it right this time...

He looks gorgeous and sounds wonderful. I hope you both have lots of fun together; and I really like your approach of no plan, just see how you two get along and develop.

Well that’s a lovely thing to read and it sounds like he’s off to a cracking start. Wishing you lots of happy times.

Hack number 2 was a success, Past the pigs this time too! Little session in the school when we got back. I could sit on his canter forever. He’s just so balanced. I love him already.

Sounds like you two are a perfect match. Congrats, have lots of fun!

Snuck out at lunch time for hack number 3. Saw a big lorry (from a junction so not really close but was fine), a tractor (parked) and had a van go past us far too fast and he was brilliant. We had to turn round to go back to a passing place to let a 4x4 and trailer past and while he was keen to carry on back in that direction and head home, he listened and turned back away with no fuss. He had a tiny spook at a kid on a skateboard but to be fair I don't think I've come across that on a horse before so I don't blame him for being a bit confused. But if that little sideways shimmy (the kid was very good and stopped straight away) was the worst he's got, we'll be grand. He went the whole way in front so we're going to give it a go solo tomorrow. This was my downfall with Charlie (although I've done it since with Oscar) so once I've got that out of the way I'll be really happy.

Although we did have words. When I arrived he was right by the gate having a drink. By the time I parked (field gate is near the farm entrance) grabbed a headcollar and made it back t the gate, he was all the way at the top of the steep hill. Not acceptable Wiggington!

Wiggy is a great name for a horse.
But I have to admit, ever since you posted I’ve had the Andrew Nicholson rhyme in my head (Andrew getting jiggy with wiggy ?) for those old time eventers who remember ?

For once I'm too young to understand that but I think that's a good thing!

I love Wiggy as a name. Almost as good as Malcolm or Norman which would be my first choices. I'll just have to have a dog called Malcolm now.

As much as I like Charlie's name it was a bit too normal and popular for my liking. When I got Archie and named him Archie (he was called Andy and I had too many friends called Andy) there were no Archies around then all of a sudden there were hundreds everywhere I looked!
