Really need a calmer that works! Help please?

What dose would you recommend? She’s a 14.1 welsh mare

My 16.1 wbx had a 20ml scoop twice a day ( he doesn't need it any more, it helped him to be calm enough to learn). Maybe go for that as a loading dose for a couple of days then reduce to 15 ml or even 10. They will excrete any surplus up to a point.

My mare needs restricting all year round, as she is extremely sensitive to grass. She also has gut symptoms which were verified by the vet, yet she rarely has runny poos - more the opposite! I feed her hay or haylage all year to compensate for lack of grazing - the paddock is as large as I dare and it's never enough to giver her the 100 % forage. During times of flush/rain and sunny spells i.e. Spring and Autumn, she also now gets piriton, which this year is helping her a LOT. The dose does need tweaking, though. Her field companion is not affected at all, or gets runny poos on too much grass - this really is horse specific.

Ooh that is interesting. My horse is grass affected, and the graze ezy / Alleviate do seem to help. But we have moved to even more grass recently (not in my control) and he;s not really eating bucket feed, so only on low doses graze ezy / Alleviate.

He was on piriton in spring for an allergy cough, and seemed much better. Maybe I should try it again for the current autumn flush. What is your logic for piriton when grass flushing.

Just an update on this one. I've really taken on being in control now which I think has helped. I also put a sheepskin cover on the noseband which I'm not sure if it's playing it's part but I am playing with my reins a lot more, lightly so just to remind her I am still there, making sure I'm looking ahead and to click her on if I see anything that she may want to spook at. 4 days a go I also started her on Grazezy so I'm not sure if that would have done anything yet if it does but today we went for a long hack and she didn't spook once. She was absolutely brilliant and since establishing more control, I have felt more confident which has made be realise I mustn't have been 100% confident before when I thought I was. We have had some amazing gallops still and *touch wood* haven't had any ridiculous spooks at any pace. I've made sure I've been talking to her a lot when going a bit faster just for reassurance too. I'm really happy with my little mare!
