Totally serious!

My mare is going off on selling livery Friday. A month or so ago she cut her leg (all healed now) but it had to be dressed by a vet who used this sticky foamy bandage which has left glue on her leg and I can't get it off!!

Really need to get it off somehow before she goes on Friday! Any suggestions welcome!!

have you tried fairy liquid?
thats meant to be quite good for cutting through sticky stuff.

mind you my mare has to have the catheter glued onto her fur when she has the drip for her Tildren injections and I end up having to cut off the fur which has been glued!
thats probs not what you wanted to hear! lol

Might sound like a crazy suggestion but have you tried warming it up?
Often glue will go softer and stickier when you warm it up so it might be easier to peel off.
If your horse would tolerate it you could try using a hairdryer!

Galaxy you can get plaster remover from the chemist. It stinks but is cheap as chips and works.

baby oil seems to just stop stuff like that sticking, no idea how though! On an off topic thought, it also works on wax redisue after you have done your legs, so worth a go?!

Sadly she'd never tolerate a hairdryer!

Thanks for the suggestions! You lot are great!! Keep them coming!

Baby Oil has been put in my bag to try tonight... I already have some of that!

How about trying hand cleanser, the type that you can use without water? It is alcohol based, so would have thought it should remove sticky stuff without being too harsh on horsies skin.

Baby Oil worked!!! I sponged it on and rubbed and it and rubbed and it all just about came off.

So relieved. She's not gonna have a funny looking leg at the Selling Yard!!

Fingers crossed now someone falls in love with her and she finds a lovely new home.

Thank you SO much for all of the suggestions.

Funny, my vet the same thing and it took ages to get off, and we are in the same area! Same vet?
I really should have asked on here whether anyone knew of a way of getting i off :/

Maybe!! I didn't try the white spirit though because I was worried about it going near the cut incase it stung.... It has healed over, but still. May have worked! I don't know!!
