I really need help for my elderly greyhound who has gone on hunger strike she has been feed for the last 11yrs we have owned her on a raw diet but in the last 3 weeks she has gone on hunger strike.Been to the vets bloods etc done no problem so tried her on dried food, thank god I have friends with hungry dogs she wont eat it,she has decided she wants tinned food (yuk) but at nearly 16 I will bow to her whim, what is the best tinned food, she has lost 3kgs in 3 weeks, vet has confirmed she is healthy any help would be great .

thank you have tried her on chappie last 2 days,i even tried cooking her raw food still not interested her new choice is butcher choice, I give up the old bat Is going to pick and choose what she wants, shes a stuborn mare and will starve herself if she doesn't get what she wants

ooh i sympathise! i have 2 pointy dogs who are ALWAYS going on hunger strikes and leave me tearing my hair out as they end up like walking skeletons!

when they go through these phases, what works for me (sometimes) are

tinned sardines in oil

sweet potato

green tripe

and hand feeding them their raw favourite, which are chicken hearts (little and bite size so not too daunting!)

i would also recommend trying your skinny dog on Natural Instinct Working Dog Duck (highest calorie and fat content of all their range and very palatable if your dog like duck) or if like one of mine he doesn't their Working Dog Salmon is great.

Good luck!!
