Really need some help

Right I can't post full details publicly but PM me if you have an expereince with DEFRA/ RSPCA/ BHS or similar organisations.

Sorry sounds a bit odd but there is a horse at potential risk involved.

Not sure who to contact about it, it isn't a normal sort of welfare issue but not something I'm happy to post publicly.

I haven't found the RSPCA to be of any use to date, though I'm sure they must be good at something/somewhere.

DEFRA would probably only be if it was a notifiable disease.

Ah, in that case, my first port of call would be the BHS in case they have a local officer who can help, then DEFRA.

What about the vet? Can they point you in the right direction?

If its a field issue i doubt Defra will be much use.
Is it ragwort in a field,or similar......if so,maybe get bhs or similar to send a welfare officer out??

Vet has deemed it unsafe for livestock and that's all he said on the matter.

Will give BHS ring tomorrow.

I had a conversation with an rspca officer recently about some horses I reported and it was very interesting - even though he had condition scored the horses at a 1.5 he admitted this was not enough to remove them or prosecute and that they have to pretty much be a zero to do so or there has to be other factors involved. Same horses were also reported to horseworld who came out with hay immediately and world horse welfare (not sure how they got on).

totally agree - hope you didnt think i was saying it wasnt enough to remove them !! he admitted that there was nothing he could do unless they were zero. They were in an awful condition and we took hay and water to them and tried to do everything we could but in the end unless we were prepared to take them out of that situation (which would be seen as theft) we could do nothing more !! soooo frustrating - lovely trusting horses who were being starved to death - they were also on land owned by a housing company which they shouldnt have been on but this seemed to make no difference (they had access to a railway line through unsecure fence and a frozen bog./pond) I have now found out they have been moved and are looking slightly better thank god but how long before they go down hill again !
