After not having done any dressage since early November I was wondering whether I was pushing my luck entering my Riding Club dressage competition yesterday. I had a dressage lesson on Saturday which went really well and corrected all the bad habits I've picked up!
So yesterday we did P13 and N20. Usually he warms up well and then falls to pieces in the test so I wasn't expecting much. He warmed up really well as usual then we went into the indoor arena for the test. He tensed up on me but I relaxed and so did he and he worked really well in the test. Usually his canter is really unbalanced and rushed but he really carried himself and was a pleasure to ride
Unfortunately he grinds his teeth when he's working hard so gets marked down for resistance and finished on 63.7% and came 2nd
Time for his first ever Novice test and apart from not lengthening in the medium trot he went even better and scored 64%
We didn't wait to find out what position we finished but I was so pleased with him. Fingers crossed he keeps it up for the eventing season. I just need to get the jumping sorted now!
