Really sad, can't stop checking but one of our kittens has disappeared, didn't appear for breakfast, didn't appear for tea. Checked with neighbours, checked all outbuildings, disappeared into thin air, walked and shouted and even miaowed (she usually answers you back!) can't think where she's got to! Do foxes attack cats does anyone know?

My kitty cat did that when she was a baby and came back the next day all soaked wet and covered in muck - I reckon she had been chased and had got herself into a wee hole to hide. Hopefully justgone out adventuring adn will be back soon - fingers crossed x

Thank you, keep worrying it's stuck somewhere, it's very shy so I don't think it will go willingly with anyone but just wondered about predators though it's 7 months old so should be able to fend for itself. We've got an owl hunting though and foxes are about, just wondered if something could have attacked it. Her sister seems very anxious so she's been shut in tonight.

How old???? It is a worry, one of my cats disappeared coming up to 4 years ago, you still wonder where they are..... Mine was microchipped so still expect to get a call in another 6 years time saying we've got your cat why is he looking so poor! 'because he's been missing for 10 years!!!'

Back to yours though, hopefully he/she's just got caught out or accidentally locked in a barn/shed/garage etc and may get free tomorrow! If you haven't found him tomorrow, call all the local vets, register him missing with the rspca and local cpl. If he's been picked up then they're the likely outlets he'll have gone to.

At 7 months old, he's fully grown, so certainly no need to worry about an owl unless someones pet eagle owl has escaped!!! Foxes again will only be a problem to a fully grown cat if it is already injured.

Have emailed cats protection league in both Doncaster and Scunthorpe, together with a recent picture, will speak to RSPCA if she's not back in the morning - due to call at local vets in morning so will have a word with them, I think it's the not knowing that's the worst

We've had a lot of panic over missing cats - one disappeared for 12 days once before reappearing! Try not to worry too much yet as they often just get shut somewhere by accident or go off on an adventure. :)

If there is nothing tomorrow then consider making some little leaflets to hand out in the area in case anyone has seen her.

I'm sure she will come back soon.

I hope you find your kitten.
But it's not always bad news for missing cats - I adopted a stray cat (thought it was feral) because he looked in a bad way.
He now lives with us, and has clearly been someone's pet in the past - I wonder if they think about him, or perhaps worried about him when he first was lost? Of if they think he died?
S :D

My cat once went missing for nearly 3 weeks but she came back eventually (albeit with a few broken bones  )

I wouldn't start panicing quite yet, she'll probably roll up tomorrow morning demanding some food! :)

One of my cats went missing a few years ago. I called the Cats Protection League and RSPCA. The CPL found him as he had been hit by a car and the people kindly took him to the vets who communicate with the CPL.
You also need to contact your local council/highways dept as they pick up bodies and keep them for a while.

Hopefully your cat will appear after some exciting adventure.

Thanks for all your messages of support. Kit still not back this morning, have combed the whole area within a mile of us to no avail, still, neighbours all on the lookout, but have found a huge earth a few hundred yards away with lots of bird and animal remains about, hope it's not had the kitten as I will be hopping mad. Wish the highways agency knew we existed lol, as we're out in the sticks don't think I've ever seen any road kill be picked up by anyone except by the good old farmers.

:DYAY!!!!

So glad to hear kitty is home, I'd only just found this post and was reading with increasing sadness for you and now she's back :D:D:D:D

Hope she turns up safe and well after a little kitten advantage. Years ago I had a kitten that disappeared for 48 hourse then turned up without a care in the world. Fingers crossed.

Yay so glad she back :) Our old cat who died last year, Ollie, disappeared when he was a baby, he had to be shut in for some reason and hated it so somehow escaped through the letter box?!?!?! Not entirely sure how he managed that one haha, but it turned out he got in the back of one of our neighbours vans and had been stuck there a few days as the neighbour drove all over the country, luckily he wasnt away for too long and when neighbour found him he took him straight to the vets, although it took a fair few baths to discover he was a ginger and white kitten as he was covered from head to toe in oil!! I was so realived when he came home and I bet you are too :)

Finally can have a sleep tonight, instead of tossing and turning! Yes both she and her sister are neutered, I think that made it worse cos I knew she wasn't off "tom-ing". We have quite a few farms around with loads of outbuildings, I think she must have got shut in. I can't walk now for her winding round my legs and miaowing, think she's as relieved as I am.

I got 3 rescue kittens 3 years ago and kept them in a (large) shed until the worked out how to escape.... they were almost (!) always back for breakfast and dinner but they did sometimes forget the time when out hunting.....

Your baby will come back and it will be as if she has never been away! Mine do it all the time...... and they always look as you as if you are mad when you make a fuss!

They have brought some 'friends' back with them and now there are 6...... they all know when it's dinner time but sometimes they are too busy with 'other things'.....

Hope she decides to come back soon - I know how much of a worry they are!

lol.. that's what happens when you take ages to type a response!.......... must be the wine! Oh and yummy nachos!
Glad you have her back! She will do it to you many times - as mine do!

yayy so glad she's back, i saw your post originally and hoped for the best, was thinking about it today actually.

Hope she's learnt her lesson :)

Mine have turned into right housecats now, if they go out they are back within 5 mins! It's kind of nice to know where they are now they're getting older (9) but at the same time it's a pain in the bum having them around your legs and miowing for fuss all day :p

You really are a lovely lot on here. It made it so much easier reading other people's experiences. Although we have horses, dogs, chickens and have had a variety of pets when the children were small, we've never really been interested in cats, but since a good friend turned up with the kittens we've been enthralled, I always thought they were very aloof but these two have proved they're anything but and they are real timewasters as both my hubby (who was totally against getting cats but is often now found with a cat curled up on him, much to the dogs' disgust) and I love watching them play and they usually (!) appear out of nowhere when they hear us out and about.
