I had my lovely old lab dog PTS tonight .
He was 14 and had been gently going downhill for a while but took a dip at the end of last week .
He was asleep in garden on his outside bed and I went out to get him in he did not want to walk or pee was shaky and confused I got him and settled gave him some extra pain relief he settled but not right .
I called the vet she came after surgery and agreed it was time .
Awful .
A kind friend came and and three of us buried him under the lawn with all the labs that have gone before ..
It's such an empty feeling .

Im so sorry to read this, its always very sad to lose a good friend and family member, he was a good age and you did absolutely the right thing, it was his time and you made sure he didnt suffer, he was lucky to have you as his owner. Hugs to you. x

Sending hugs xx it is really heartbreaking when they go and they leave such a massive hole in our lives but he was a really good age and was lucky enough to have an owner who loved him enough to make the right decision when needed.

HUgs{}{}{} I know how you feel, we lost ours recently he also was not right and could not stand, its so hard when that time comes, seeing empty kennel and bed.

The day will come when we return from Holiday to get another, but NOTHING will replace George as he is irreplaceable.

So sorry for your loss. 14 yrs is a good age for a lab, not long enough though. I have two, only 9 and 7 yrs old, am dreading the end already.

Sorry to read this but it was his time to go and you made the right decision for him at the right time. As heartbreaking as it is, try and find some comfort from that.

Our dogs are so special to us - I'm sure it will feel very strange without him for a while.

So sorry, it is so heartbreaking. My Dad died in November and on Wednesday we had to put his old dog to sleep, like yours, Goldenstar, the time had come - he was lying outside in the sun and I notice a damp patch under his tail and discovered he was bleeding quite a lot. Given the many other problems he was experiencing including kidney issues, arthritis etc the vet and I agreed it wasn't fair to continue. I hope he's now happily running around with Dad. He's laid to rest in a copse with his predecesors.
