my horses best friend died today. not sure what it was but think a haemorrage (sp?) when he was cantering with his dad on board. fortunately his dad wasnt hurt.
he was 17, they were cantering in the field and he just dropped. its so sad, everyone at the yards really subdued cos pat loved him so much, and hed had him a long time. our field looks really empty, there used to be four in it, two coloureds and my horse and maitre, now maitres gone and my horse doesnt like the other two (they bully him). me and solo are missing maitre like mad already.
Yes, he was a lovely horse. He raced at most of the northern tracks. I remember he never quite fulfilled his initial promise. I think he was a Robert Ogden horse brought over from France, I know Paul Carberry (jesus in stirrups!
) rode him at the start of his jumping career, but I can't remember who trained him then. I last remember him with Martin Todhunter.
It's good to know he had a nice life after racing.
its really nice to hear about him, thankyou.
his dads goin to ride my horse a bit cos he is like maitre was, if u get me. he was the fitteat horse on the yard, the best looked after horse and probably the yards best loved horse.
pat rides pointers out through the week, and in time he will get another,
Its really weird going to the yard and not seeing his car.
we'll all miss maitre loads.
RIP maitre.
