This has my blood boiling and tears down my face
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...us-elephant-Anne-Battered-kicked-stabbed.html

"With each repeated blow, the pitchfork makes a sickening thwack as it slams into Anne the elephant's hide.

She flinches, at one point even appearing to lose her footing under the weight of a particularly savage strike.

The disturbing images come from a secretly shot video which campaigners say lays bare the cruel reality of her life as Britain's last circus elephant."

Video shows a elephant, horses, camels being beaten! i for one cannot believe this goes on still in the uk!

My mother showed me this in her Daily Mail. Didn't read to whole article, but horrendous obviously - from the photos alone.

Can't read the article but I'm so disgusted. Does anyone else think the laws on animal cruelty aren't strict enough? I mean, take the Spindles Farm case, over 100 horses were left to die and all the owner got was a lifetime ban and a very small fine. His wife/daughters who also took part in the neglect only got a 20 year ban. If you were to treat a human in the same manner you'd get locked up for the rest of your life.

I know some people think we are highly superior over animals but to me, not at all. There's no difference between stabbing an animal and stabbing a human, one wouldn't be in less pain.

OH MY GOD! This is horrible! Why can't anyone do anything about this now this footage has been found?
Those poor animals :( this is sick!!!!!

Whipsnade Zoo are looking to rehome her with their herd.

Is this direct from Whipsnade - because they latest I heard this morning, was that this had been put forward as a possibility by concerned people, rather than the Zoo itself.

Either way we have: Whipsnade, Longleat plus I think one or two other places that she could possibly go.

Let's hope it's resolved by the end of this month.

Very sad,had me in tears.I hope they lock the cruels """"""s up and throw away the key, also give them a beating, see how they like being on the recieving end. Grrrrrrrrrr

That is absolutely DISGUSTING.
Watching that video made my blood boil.

They should be banned from keeping any animal EVER.

Filthy, disgusting people deserved to be caged for 9 months of the year, chained to one place and beaten with a pitch fork. See how they like it.

On the news last night the owners wife was interviewed with Ann in a pen behind her one noticeable difference she wasnt chained up and was on a lovely big thick bed of straw.....was this done for the interview?? its disgusting an elderly animal can be subjected to the beating thats been filmed.
Lets hope the owners will sign her over to the safari park that are willing to give her a home.

I heard on breakfast news this morning that Whipsnade Zoo said they would rehome Anne, but the owners would have to give her to them and nobody had confirmed that this had happened.

So as far as I can tell she is still there... poor poor baby.

Let's hope that they get the man and give him a taste of his own medicine.. B.......d

Chose not to watch the video but looked at the daily mail link, which has deeply upset me while at work, can't even bring myself to read it after looking at those photos at the moment, it is behond words how sick these people are, a disgrace to the human race they are.

Hope they rot in hell.

Disgusting, seriously how can that be left to go on with such obvious proof of the mis-treatment of not only Anne but what seems to be every animal there? So they ban fox hunting, but let helpless animals be beaten and abused on a daily basis... where's the sense in that?

I really don't know how anyone can treat ANY animal like that, absolutely sickening.

This poor animal has served the family business well over the years and in her twighlight years she should be able to see out the rest of her life in a pleasant humane manner.

I appreciate that there are always problem and risks in re-holming old animals but let us hope that she gets the freedom she deserves.

Although I appreciate that films can be contrived I would be interested to know why the RSPCA has not made a prosecution based on the film evidence of both the keeper and the owners of the circus. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.

Sickening! Just 5 minutes with those scumbags.....thats all I would need

Poor old girl :(

I am sure I heard that a wildlife park were assesing Anne to see if she could be rehabilitated to live with them.

I really hope this is the case and the owners are forced to give her up so she may have some quality of life in whatever years she has left.

If justice has any hand in this, that will be the case.

I have everything crossed for a safe and happy future for Anne
