Really stinky farts when upset/after a big day out

Buddy is a very, very windy dog, generally speaking (loudest farts and burps I've ever heard from a dog - it's like having a teenage boy in the house ?). When upset or after a big, eventful day out though, they really, really smell bad. To the point where - TMI - you can basically taste them ??

They're on a good quality food (Gentle) and his poos are good and he's generally happy.

Is there anything at all I can do? Will mention it to the vet next time I speak to them but I don't think it's worth a call outright...?

Please help - my nose can't take any more!!

He's on Gentle dry food and he was getting 300g a day but his poos were a little loose so dropped down to 270g. He weights 28.5kg so it's not far off the 1%. He also gets a little bit on walks, for training, reward etc. Fed 3 times daily (90g) with a small amount before bed when Harvey gets his before-bed meal.

It's definitely stress and excitement, both I think, but it can't be pleasant for him. They'll usually last a couple of hours after the "event".

As someone with IBS, is he my spirit animal? ?
Our old Lab was similar, if he got stressed or excited he would poop in increasingly liquid consistencies and try to singe our nosehair with his emissions.

You could try giving him something to help his stools/de-wind him a bit. I like the VetIQ Stool Firm Tablets for when the dog is a little loose or windy. You could try giving them to him before whatever the activity is and then another after? Cheaper than something like Pro-kolin at least!

I actually hadn't thought of it as IBS! Which is silly because I sometimes get low-key symptoms myself. That's a really good shout. Thanks for both of those suggestions - I'll look them up and see what might suit.

I would give him some kaolin, the child version from any chemist. It worked wonders whenever any of mine were loose/windy. Is it his food? I’ve deffed the kibble and the youngsters are far better, almost no wind/zero sloppiness.

The OP has already identified the issue.

I know it's not nice to think about our dogs being stressed, but it's something I have seen a lot in dogs that have gone over threshold, exerted themselves or experienced something unpleasant, no matter what they are fed.
