Ok so did a post this morning as friend took a video of Pidge schooling on Xmas Eve http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/2652902/an/0/page/0#2652902
and I must admit I am quite surprised by how many people think Pidge is lovely and moves nicely

This means such a lot to me as normally people prefer Sunny (sister's horse) and are not keen on Pidge

and the fact that he has hock spavin in his off hind doesn't seem to be apparant from his movement either

So big thank you to those HHO'ers who really really have made my day, week, month even year

I was a bit worried before posting the video as its the first proper one (others only from mobile so not brill quality) I've posted, but have been pleasantly surprised

Yes he was feeling exceptionally spritely that day so much that Helen had a spin on him and when she asked to go down to walk from trot he cantered

He is a pretty powerful horse and his stamina seems to know no limit!

Im not just saying this but i always thought Pidge was better (well not better but stood out more, i think thats wat im trying to say!) then Sunny! Although i do love sunny because hes very cool

Well done you two, he looks like a very happy handsome chap. Just think how things have changed from last year when you were so worried about him

This looks like 2008 is the year then!

thanks I know what you mean
grin.gif
just normally only post pictures not videos of Pidge so nice to get comments on his movement as opposed to his looks
grin.gif
and yes Sunny is a pretty cool dude
smile.gif

Oh I really hope so, and yes when I look back at last we have come on so much I can't wait to get cracking this year

He's lovely looking, reminds me very much of my mare - great fun to ride but you know you've ridden when you get off!! Honey used to do the same with her head in canter, she'd stick it down and out which always pulled me forward and unbalanced me. My instructor advised me that when she was about to do it (I usually got a few seconds warning), I should sit deep almost behind the vertical and then lift my reins directly up - not back just straight up with contact on them, then when her head came back up to relax back into the normal position and to do this every time she tried. It did the trick she soon recognised that the slightest lift in my reins meant that her head should come up, it also meant she couldn't lean into the contact. It also works by lifting just one rein if you feel a bit to forward in the movement; another trick for you to bring your position deeper ready to lift the reins is to take a quick look up at the sky just before you do it.
