The new loan boy came on Saturday and he's been an absolute pleasure so far :)
However his saddle is the hardest most uncomfortable thing i've ever sat on :( i went for a 30min hack yesterday and my bum bones(?!) are absolutely killing today its that hard and uncomfy :(

I dont think a seat saver will work unless i put maybe two or three on at once, aaaahhhh my bum hurts.

Any help? :o

(A good friend at the yard also commented saying he doesn't look comfortable with the saddle, however id definitely speak to his owners before i considered that route!)

I had a cob saddle fitted to my mare and truely it was awful and turned out the mare didnt like it either!! i changed to a thorowgood GP with a prolite seat and i use a merino sheepskin saddle saver and its lush!! had it refitted last week though as was starting to push me forward and was uncomfortable. Now its central and we are both happy with it.
Def worth getting the saddler out to take a look!!

I think another livery is having the saddler down soon so will get them to have a look at it when theyre down :)

Only problem being that he is only on loan to me, i dont know what i'd do with the whole issue if i have to get a new one?

Last thing i want is an uncomfortable horse for the next 6 months, i'm looking at buying so would like to see how he works with a nicely fitted saddle

If you do end up getting a new saddle then you can do what you want with it, even if you don't buy the horse. I'd speak to the owner then buy a new saddle :)

Thanks BBH, didn't really intend on splashing out on a new'un but i suppose it will be my saddle if i buy another, so if i gave him up for any reason i could sell it on.

Will speak to owner asap about it

Thanks :)

I'm sure the right seat saver will help, the heather Moffat ones are highly recommended. I should think they can refit it (although doesn't help your bum!) but otherwise the owner might be up for a part exchange with another saddle. I had a horse on loan and was in this awkward situation with the saddle not fitting, unfortunately I faffed too long and got chucked off two days before the saddler was booked, this sucked bad as I broke my arm, so just remember if the owner is awkward about it, its you doing the riding and is worth sorting :-)
