Hey .. My little baby has been going amazing , we got a BN and weve been jumping discovery also doing a bit of BE .. ive been apsalotly over the moon with her seen as 9 months ago when i bought her she wouldnt jump a pole..!

And now , as usual for me it has all gone wrong..! Im so upset and i just sobbed all yesterday afternoon Because ive found out that she may not be able to be ridden again..!

Her front feet have always been quiet long and she kept saying to the farrier about it .. however with him being a farrier you take his word for it that its all fine.. Well her hell has gone to far down which has made her lame in 3 of her legs..!

I Cant belive it as one minute she was brill ,, the next completly cripple. Shes got to go for scans and xrays .. but things dont look good for her at the mo .. im so gutted ive worked so hard with her and we've built up such a bond.. she was going to be a bloody fantastic horse for the future .. But i sapose yuh cant have your cake and eat it..?

Awwww that is such bad news...i hope some how, some way she turns out ok for you!!!

Will keep my fingers crossed for you!!!

I have the same problem and he gets concussion in front legs .I have tried natural balance shoes and they seem to have really helped.Concussion was worse because we had to do lots of hacking on roads after hock surgery and his heels were bruised, a couple of weeks with the new shoes helped and brought his toes back so the heel can grow .Ask your vet about the shoes mine thinks they are really good.

I thought collapsed heels could be dealt with successfully by remedial farriery? Don't they sometimes put wedges or weld what I call "tram lines" to the shoe to lift the heel and get the weight off it?

I do believe there is a an argument that wedges can cause damage to the pedal bone in some horses though.

Dont despair I had scans and xrays last week we thought he had blown his suspensory ligament but it turned out to be a splint.Like I said in earlier post re. natural balance shoeing we are suffering from collapsed heels as well, if its bruising a few weeks and she will recover as long as you get her heels worked on.
