If this is an 'experienced' yard at least you have found out what they are like before they make an equal mess of his backing & blame that on him as well.
I feel for both of you, the whole situation is so unnecessary. Personally I don't think I could ever trust the YO word again. If it was such a problem, why not ask for him to go on schooling livery for a month to remedy it? Why not talk to you, especially after your previous discussion? That they used inexperienced (& though they may be experienced with horses they may not be with youngsters) staff is no excuse. If those are the animals they are being asked to deal with (& all youngsters will try the boundaries on at some point) it is the YO or YM responsibility to ensure they have the training for the job. You are paying for a service.
