Hi everyone, just looking for some advice..... I have begun to lunge my new 6 year old dutch WB, I have had her just over two weeks now and when I got her she was underweight as she had just aborted foals at the beginning o this year. She has been a broodmare for a couple of years and has been started slowly on the lunge before I bought her. She has completed level 1 dressage in Holland about two years ago, so she has been worked before. I have hacked her out on a few occassions only trotting and no problems. However, I lunged her today using her bridle and saddle and worked ok in walk and trot but when I asked for canter she reared and bucked quite a few times, pulling away from me.
She has wolf teeth which were revealed in her vetting, so could this be the problem? I am planning on having these removed once she gains weight. I bought her a cair saddle so as she gains weight I can change the gullet to fit. Could it be the saddle?? or does this seem like a green attitude, not wanting to canter on either rein?
I rode her in the sand school and she also had an unwillingness to move forward from leg aids. I am not expecting her to be perfect and I know the road may be long ahead getting her back to fitness etc.
If anyone has experienced this I would be grateful to hear from you.
Thanks!
