Reasonably priced horse transporter/horse box hire? - W./N.Yorks

Hi all,

I'm based in Ilkley, West Yorkshire and I need to transport my horse to Rainbow Equine Hospital in Malton, N. Yorks and back again.
I do not own my own horse box, and I cannot drive one due to my age, so i have made many enquiries locally to try and find the most cost effective way of doing this. I have had various quotes to both hire and have my horse transported, which are all coming in at around £400! I appreciate this is probably the average price though - but my horse is being particularly expensive at the moment. Also he is huge at 18hh so it would have to be a good sized box/lorry.

I wanted to find out if anyone can advise me of any reasonably priced horse transporters or hire places around Ilkley/W.Yorks/N.Yorks who may come in at a lower price?? I obviously do not want to compromise safety for money, or go with anyone dodgy, but I just thought i'd ask!

Did you ask the Horsepital.
I think you will struggle one due to the need for a lorry.

No that's a good point, i will give them a ring. I know - need something to fit my giant into!

A friend of mine runs Hot-to-Trot horsebox hire. She may be able to help. I am not sure if they are big enough for your horse as they use the Equitrek small lorries but might be worth giving her a try as if she can't do it she may know of someone who can

Is £400 for a one day trip or for two trips (as in there one day and returning another)?
