Reasons for not leaving horses tail too long

How about minding your own business. Native ponies have full manes and tails and live quite happily without interfering busibodies deciding their view is the only view.

What a thoroughly nasty post.

[/ QUOTE ]

No not nasty just from someone who is fed up that people are so sure that the views they hold are so correct that it gives them the right to impose them on other people. What is even more infuriting is that they frequently come from people who are not as knowledable as they think.

Actually the feral New Forest ponies tails are cut each year when they come in on the drifts. The length is shortened as well as the side cuts which indicate the area the pony is from. Does that mean the Verderers/Agisters in charge of the ponies welfare on a day to day basis are a bunch of interfering busybodies? Personally, I think not.

i love my horses long mane and tail...

Having had some silly biatch(fellow livery) cut my boys tail last week because SHE thought it was abit too long I can tell you right now that sticking your nose in is a sure fire way to piss someone off

Your horse is fab and absolutely suits having his mane and tail longish
I love the 'Mr Moses' look
.......................
I am talking about tails trailing along the ground behind the ponies
I am talking about feet turned out and losing angles because they are not trimmed
I am talking neglect not fashion

Why has this got nasty??
Wish I had taken pics now

Perhaps I should have called the post reasons to stick your nose in

I did last week and discovered a donkey with tiny pasture, no hay, green water, pregnant and condition score 1.5 and sharing a lean to with a dead sheep.

Seeing one animal on a premises looking a bit rough may lead to finding others

The above incident is being dealt with at an official level.

Hahah as the owner of an Arab who's tail drags about 3 inches on the ground when not elevated I can assure you it does sweet FA damage to the horse. My vet has commented on more than one occasion quite how lovely my girls tail is!

Just because it's not to your taste doesn't mean you should be trying to convince a 'stranger' into cutting THEIR horse's tail. AS for muddy wet tails, where do these tails get muddy and wet? Unless your horse rolls in a pond?!

Thankfully, Cuffey is one of the people at the sharp end of animal welfare, and gets her hands dirty by doing the sort of work some of us can only imagine.

When you've been here a bit longer you'll realise that, and not be quite as quick to make such offensive remarks.

I think that would have covered it

The tail thing was a little bit misleading.

I hope the donkey gets sorted out.

So do I
Owner has been given specific Donkey Sanctuary diet sheet for pregnant donkey
Told to move it home and keep an eye on it
Improvement Order in place

Went in to look at some cobs--only 2 young ones borderline with rain rot and a bit ribby, feet neat, and plenty of lovely hay in field and natural shelter. No idea donkey there til it brayed--rather a shock finding it without food.
