The Little Cigar is out in the rain with his other foal friends. He doesn't like it much, but whilst he's wet on the outside, his roots are dry. He still doesn't like it. I don't think he's ever been out in the rain all day

It rained a few times in summer and I left him and PF out in that during the day, but they were in at night (puma problems) It drizzled a bit a week ago... I think that's all the experience he's had with the wet stuff. I know I'm being a terrible wuss (as is he) please reassure me that he'll be fine

Thankies

Never had a foal, but my boy is out in torrential rain here in sunny (ahem

) Scotland and i'm not going to lose any sleep over it! Guess the wee cigar will get used to it

He'll be fine.

He's a horse.

A very beautiful baby horse, but a horse just the same.

Horses live outside and get rained on all round the world and don't melt.

Honestly!

He'll be more than fine - he'll be all the better for it.

LOL! We don't have rain though. Generally speaking

Also, he has been a bit pampered

My horse in Cyprus used to totally ignore his shelter and stand outside boiling his brains in 40 + degrees, when it rained and in Cyprus it can rain like a bastard he stood outside getting soaked....he was a TB and after i while I just accepted he was mad and ignored him.

My poorly boy here in Holland is living out 24/7 at the moment and we are having torrential rain and thunderstorms, I have spent a small fortune on every weight of turnout rug known to man.....I commented to my trainer yesterday how good his skin was looking and got the response yes the rain is really helping his sore spots.....as I say I give up!

Hmmmm I would say a name change to PamperedFoal is definitely the way forward

My youngster is nearly 11 months old and thinks shelter is for wusses
smirk.gif
She much prefers to be wet and muddy

So how is the gorgeous one? More photos are called for I think - just so we can bask in his beauty and make sure he hasn't suffered any ill effects from the rain

Any excuse to look at piccies of him really
grin.gif

Being picky but in order for him to melt it would have to be HOT!!!!!

He would dissolve in the rain! (and so would sugar)

I think he needs toughening up - you dont want him turning into a poncy poof like a certain horse i know
wink.gif

I know a really good place you could send him that will treat him well but turn him into a MAN...
They accept delivery by any means?!!
Or failing that can we at least have some photos so i can drool?

don't let him speak to my lot, they will most certainly say he will melt and to make you feel very guilty! The reality is he will be fine (as would they but i cant stand the whinying through my window)
grin.gif

He has to get wet sometime
grin.gif

Over here in the Isle of Man all the youngsters are naked on a hill until they are 4, I think it does them good
laugh.gif

If he can huddle with his friends then I really wouldn't worry,
smile.gif

He's got your right wrapped round his little hoof hasn't he. If he hadn't pulled sulky faces yo'd be fine about it I'm sure.
He will be fine and he gets a free bath thrown in to.

PF likes the heat, but has grown to dislike getting wet. This is an ENGLISH TB who lived out for 3 years when I lived in Cambridge!

I've been incredibly slack... I've got some photos in my camera I haven't downloaded, and I've got to get some new ones now he's in with the foals (the mule was a complete cow to both of them, so she was moved out) I'll try and get some today

You're very persistent
smile.gif
I'm sorry to say, he is a bit of a sissy at the moment. Not entirely my fault; the weather has been VERY mild and there's been very little rain for the last couple of months...
OK, it IS largely my fault he's a sissy, but you're right, he will toughen up, and he's got lots of new 'friends' to do it with

Well, he's got Sofanor, thankfully, who incidentally is definitely going to rule the roost in few weeks!! Already kicking butt. I'm glad he likes the LC
