On the elbow- inbetween the armpit and her breast, so on her inside right fore, if that makes any sense!
It's not hot and she doesn't mind it being touched/pulled/messed about with- I'm just a little worried as it's in an odd place for her to pull if it is a pull!
It's on soft tissue not muscle so I wasn't sure if there was anything I could do for it.
if it were a muscle it'd be treatable -has anybody dealt with these before?
any advice appreciated:)

I've had a good feel and there doesn't seem to be any entry point or crusty spot on it.
You can feel that it's fatty and connected to the skin but it's more droopy than round or raised. it kinda looks like a third (much smaller) boob!
I honestly don't think it's a fly bite due to the size. it's not massive at all -just bigger than expected to be a bite.
Sorry for not making much sense!

Could it be a little haematoma from a kick or play bite that didn't break the skin? A haematoma is just a bruise - a collection of blood that feels soft and squishy and will sag downwards just with the weight. If it is, it should be re-absorbed by the body in a few days or so.

Thank God for putting my mind at rest- I thought it'd be something like that but I didn't notice it last night and I'm sure she didn't go out today(!)
My yard owner can be forgetful and I had family visiting so could only get up there pm to find my little mare still indoors with a nasty lump:/
I will keep my eye on it and get the equine vet nurse at our yard to check it out for me in the morning.
Thanks for all your replies!
