I need something for a horse that gets sores around the girth area, a round circular sore just behind the elbow on one side. I have a wintec elasticated (but its not actually very elastic) girth and a cheap sheepskin sleeve on. I recently swapped from her elasticated leather girth as it caused a rub and the wintec girth is wider, so I thought It would disperse pressure better.

Ideally something gel-like without wool as I'd like to take her hunting, and muddy sheepskin is no fun! but also open to sheepskin options for activities involving less mud.
Or does anyone know of a good girth to remove the issue? Thanks :)

I have bought two Jaguar girths now, love them! Ergonomically shaped, elastic both ends, quality buckles and additional d rings for attaching gadgets on sides and centre girth. Got them off of Ebay.

I am sure you don't want to hear this but the Fairfax has done me proud, and has been cheaper in the long run than the large number of leather, sheepskin, string, shaped, neoprene, padded....... girths that we tried along the way and that failed to clear the little sores.

Now a simple leather Fairfax, no sores, confident strides......

I am sorry, I was not impressed at my horse's choice of belt either!!!

cant say the price tag of a Fairfax girth is very inviting, but i'm sure she will end up with one if nothing else works  have never heard of jaguar girths but they looks pretty nice. I'm sure my friend has a string girth.. tbh ive never seen one before so I didn't know what it was! will have to ask her if I can borrow it to try. Thanks for the replies

I've got a Numed fluffy girth sleeve, it is fantastic. It's woven wool, not sheepskin, so is machine washable and dries easily.
