reccomend me some neoprene wellys

Im on my 3rd pair of muck co wellys and they have got a split in them after one winter! so Ive decided to try a different make but I love and need the warmth, hence keep buying them!
Anyone reccomend some toasty wellys that dont cost the earth.

I'm the same! Just given in and got my 3rd pair of Muck Boot wellies in 2 years :( My Hunters lasted forever but aren't as warm or comfy.

Mine are kept outside and are never cold in the morning, and I live in them and they feel like slippers. Just don't last without splitting though - shame!

Not sure what the alternative is though :confused:
 
I'm just the same, with all my previous Muck Boots lasting just one winter before splitting, but just like you I have kept buying them because I like them.

I was going to do just the same again for this winter, but at Newbury Show last week there was a stand selling a neoprene riding boot (similar to Muck Boot but different enough not to be a direct copy) for £30 on show offer (normal price £45). I am pretty sure the brand was HKM.

Needless to say, I treated myself to a pair - because even if these too only last me one winter they're much cheaper than the real Muck Boots. Maybe try a google search on HKM?

I have just bought a pair of Hunter Balmoral with neoprene lining and so far so good. They can vary from £69 to £99 so would search for the best price. They are warm, but not overly so - I have found muck boots too hot, with good gripping soles and nice fit. Only time will tell how long they last as have yet to get through a winter with the same wellies, cheap or expensive!
 
Thanks everyone. Lady on our yard had the Balmoral for years and reccomends them but Im quite tall and they look really short on me :(. Hunter do the traditional shaped welly in neoprene so thought about trying them but heard bad reports on the normal welly recently, saying they arent made like they used to be and split. I will have a look at HKM too and the Toggi ones look good for the price. Are they a decent length. Think my prob is I had the muck co Tyne and its more riding boot length.

That really surprises me: My hunters only lasted me 8 months before they had holes in the sole and splits down the back, but my Muck Boots have been going on nearly 4 years strong - worn every day. I have however got the work type Muck Boots (Esk), rather than the equestrian type ones, so not sure that makes a difference.
 
Whilst on the subject of wellies, has anyone heard of lacrosse wellys?? Horse and rider did an articule on winter wear n i saw these alphafilly lacrosse boots. I really like them but ive never heard of them before....does anyone have any info on them??
 
Another one to recommend Hunter Balmoral Neoprene wellies. Mine have lasted over 2 years, which must be a record for wellies for me.

Hunter Originals only last me a few months, before they split, and I've gone through loads of pairs which have lasted between 2 to 6 months max. They have a years warranty, so I was managing to get free replacements, but to be honest I have better things to do with my life than be sorted out credit notes from Hunter, and it's still rubbish when I have to walk round with soggy feet for a few days.
 
I've had the muck boot riding boot/welly. The first pair split within six months, but the second pair have done two years - and were great through this last harsh winter.

My husband loves his regular hunters - they have done over two years, but got holes in them now. I was thinking of getting him the neoprene ones, but was worried that they'd be too hot (thats the only problem with muck boots, my feet sweat too much from March-Oct to wear them. Suits me as I prefer muckers in summer anyway). Interesting to hear that they're not as thick as the muck boots.

Would those of you who have had hunters say that the regular hunter with a welly liner is as warm as the neoprene hunters?

Photo Jo - thanks for the warning! However, the HKM's I bought at the weekend are not Dubarry look alikes, they're black, neoprene riding wellies (Muck Boot lookalikes!). At the price I paid I'm more than happy to give them a try!
 
Le Chameau all the way for me too - even my eldest daughter who is the world's best boot destroyer (2 pairs of Dubarrys in 14 months) has not managed to kill her Le Chameaus, really comfy and warm too :)
 
Ive had 3 pairs of muck co, 2 tyne and the last were a camoflarge sp?? pair, Mmmm lovely lol. I found all of them rubbed my heel as the neoprene lining worn away :( and then they split. Shame as they are great wellys. Cant find the HKM ones you mentioned, just the ones that have material tops. I'll have a proper look now. Love Le chameaux ones, just didnt want to pay £100. Daft cos I wouldnt think twice when buying a rug!
Im off to look at wellys now :D
