Reccommendations for good yard boots

Hi there,
I am needing some new yard boots as my muck boots have got holes in the back of them and these are my second pair in 18months. The first pair lasted less than 6months so I got them replaced free but I've had the second pair for a year, although they were not used for 6months in the middle and were only used 1day a week for about 6-8hours maximum. The other problem is that I have really wide calves, probably around 18" after jods and long, thick socks are added. (Wide calves are due to previously being a highland dancer and now riding.) I like the idea of a country boot but will consider anything as long as they will fit my wide calves and last longer than 6 months...

hghlnd you can often get country boots in wide calf fittings. Shires do a good value one though I must admit I recently upgraded them to dubarrys after they started leaking! Go and browse round a really good tack shop and try loads on, and ask the shop assistants. Sometimes those who are not exactly the standard shape (like me!!) find there are not many brands to choose from that actually fit, so I'd recommend trying them on in any case.
