Sorry, I've done this before but there may be other people about with opinions!

9 year old
Bay Gelding
ISH
Hunted and affiliated in Ireland (although not sure to what level)
Has done a few dressage tests
Good to hack out alone/in company although can be nappy with new rider (hence not a novice ride, just needs a smack on the bum) good on roads
Doesn't buck, rear or bolt
Good to shoe, box, clip and do generally
Placed 2nd first time out showing (ridden hack)

Make a good teenagers horse/ladies RC horse.

Opinions please? Honest ones

TBH, it seems it's only me he does it with.....then a few pony club kicks and things sort themselves out. Unfortunately he's a bit too intelligent and decides when he's had enough hacking out! Lovely horse though....completely devoid of personaility when I got him 8 months ago (after being in a field for a year)

Lochpearl - I'm having a hideous time in my personal life at the moment and fear that I may not be able to afford a horse at all so I figured if I get an idea of what he's worth then I can weigh up my options. Hope it doesn't come to that though.

poor you! he seems like a lovely horse i'm sure you'd have no problems selling him however it isn't the best time of year. Could you perhaps get a sharer for the winter and re-look at it again in the spring??

Depends what happens - I need to get him fit anyway as he's been off for 2 months after being kicked in the field! Luckily no bone damage though.

If I'm kicked out then i'll have to sell him asap - hopefully won't come to that though....

How did he do in the dressage tests?

Based on what you have said I would think about £3k. Difficult time to be selling too

We came 7th out of about 35!

To be honest, it was the first time I had ever sat on him, and the second time I had met him - I honestly think if we knew each other, or Vicky was riding him, he would have done much better.

I think he is worth £2.50...but to anyone else I think £3.5k is a fair price. If Vicky gets going with him this winter indoors then I think she could realistically ask £5k ono for him....judging by what else is on the market at the moment....

Howeer, as Tia said, thats what I think would be fair, but not market comparable, if that makes any sense

Nice horse, shame about the napping - for £4K it has to be perfect. A credit crunch going on too - think about sending it off on trial to a decent rider, and if it is really nice they may pay a decent price.
