Has anyone ordered any of Derby House's own brand rugs or other products since they were recently bought out? I had horrible experiences with DH a few years ago with their own rugs falling to bits and appalling customer service (which they were well known for!) but I've read that service is back to being good since they went into administration late last year and were bought out.

I was just wondering if their own brand rugs are now better quality or if they are still using the same manufacturers? I'd vowed never to use them again but I'm intrigued to know if things have changed now there are different people in charge.

Any experiences much appreciated, thank you! :)

I Bought three last year, a heavy turn out, a medium turn out and a medium under/stable rug. So far *tough wood* they've stood up to a fair bit. The heavy weight seems a bit more substantial than the other two but the others are only 600denier.

I've just ordered a couple of pairs of breeches in their FB sale I have just received the dispatch email. Ordered two pairs in diff' sizes to try so hope their returns policy stands firm!

Got my pony two rugs in a sale. Medium weight own brand one is brilliant, well made & very resilient. The lightweight one isn't such good quality but it was very cheap so acts as a good spare rug.

I bought two medium weight turnouts in their sale very cheap, one has lost the tail flap but the two youngsters do play pulling rugs a lot. However they are waterproof and warm and no rips to the body which is very good for mine, well worth the bargain sale price.

I have 2 pairs of breeches which is I like :)

I have also just bought a bridle & leather headcoller ... should have been 150 quid I got them for 30!!! Im very impressed with the quality of the leather I like a lot
Plus I ordered them on the Wednesday & they arrive friday !!!

I bought a very cheap rain sheet 12 months ago and it's been really good completely waterproof and all the buckles and straps are still working well took for ever to arrive but no other complaints.

Are we safe venturing back to DH then? I gave up on them after the 2 for £25 balls up but do quite like their turnouts for spares when the PE is sodden!

We've got 2 heavyweights from recent sales. Initially as spares for when the other -far more expensive - branded rugs were wet through or got damaged. (The geldings play pull the rug games sometimes!) They have actually proved to be very good and have graduated to main rug. We've only had them since the beginning of this horrible winter so I can't say if they'll last more than one season. But we paid £30 each so they are the same cost as a repair and re-proof on a more expensive rug. Even if they don't last it is still economical. I'm not sure I'd pay full price - but you only have to wait a bit for an offer to come up. And their dispatch times have improved.

Can't reply to the above post as only have a no fill and a light/medium weight. Did want to post that although happy with way my horse is kept dry, the buckles are very cheap and most have had to be replaced as they've broken (chest and rear). Apart from that good value for money.

I've not bought rugs however am another that really likes their own brand breeches - they are my fave pair. I've had issues with delivery before but they have always been lovely when I phone to chase anything and refunded when needed

That's the problem we had with their rugs in the past. It was several years ago now but the buckles/clips snapped within less than 24 hours, as did the ones on the replacement they sent (after months of emails, phone calls and letters chasing them).

I just wondered if the rugs are made differently now and if the quality has improved. If so they might be worth a thought… they have some 100g turnouts with 1200D outer which interest me!

I have bought 3 DH rugs from them in last 18 months- 2 years. A HW that was 1200 denier and it's fab. On it's 3rd winter and my boy is tough on rugs. Very waterproof and good quality. Isn't very deep in the body but my boy is big barrel of a WBxISH. I bought a LW with combo neck and he ripped it after just one week but had it mended. The fabric is only 600D so bit more flimsy. All buckles etc fine. I also have a MW Sport 600D and that feels quite thin but haven't used it yet. Spare and only paid about £30 for each of them so not too fussed. I can recommend Premier Equine as their rugs are fab and if you get in sale - not too bad price.

Forget everything I said… the rug I saw yesterday that I like (100g turnout) was £40 yesterday and is now at £69.99 today and that's a price I'm definitely not willing to pay for their own brand rugs. And the other that I liked which was £35 yesterday… now £79.99!
