My pony has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 Ulcers (pylorus). My vet has prescribed Gastrogard, (once daily syringe) Sucralfate (twice daily syringe) and a Vet Gastric Supplement (3 x daily in feed). I'm struggling to work out a routine with having to give Gastrogard on empty stomach and then having to wait 60 minutes before feeding. Does anyone have any advice they could give me about how they have managed the daily routine. My pony is in overnight and turned out to grass all day. Hay available at all times.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks in advance.

If your insured I'd ask the vet for omeprazole injections. They only need one a week and no need for syringing. My vet gave me sulcralfate as a powder and just added into feed

Thanks HG95 - we are insured toa certain limit but think we will just stick with the syringes - I'm sure it will be fine once we get into a routine. We have been advised to mix the sulcrafate with water to a thin paste and administer by syringe. The treatment is so expensive we just want to try and get the best out of it.

You’ll need to gastrogard first thing in the morning....make sure he’s eaten all his hay during the night so his stomach is empty. I would then wait an hour before sulcralfate. I’ve only ever gastrogarded but know this has to be down first thing in morning for optimum results.

You want to be aiming for your horse to have eaten all his hay about 4 hours before you give the Gastroguard syringe, mix the Sucralfate into a paste and syringe in 30 mins after the Gastroguard and 30 mins before bucket feed/hay.
