Recomend vet to vet a horse in N.Yorks please

Hi,

I need to have a horse vetted near Richmond. Can anyone recomend a good equine vet in the area?

John Somerville is pretty good and local enough, otherwise I would use Minster at York.

I've found Station House Vets near Malton are great, Edmund is an excellent horse vet and straight talking.

Edmund (Station House), while fantastic, is an awful long way from Richmond and even if he agreed to travel that far would probably charge a fortune to do so. Keep your money and go for someone closer!

Castle Vets at Barnard Castle. They have a couple of equine vets there. Further affield, Minster Vets in York.

Peter Scholefield at Hird's... I travel from Lancashire to use him and I had him vet my black dressage mare in November last year

I would avoid Minster like the plague for vettings

I have used Minster before on several horses in and around yorkshire, for very valuable horses and touchwood so far they have always been spot on!

Wish they were closer to me!!!

There's Simon Stirk at Ripon as well and I would say Keith Hughes at Westwood Veterinary Practice in Boston Spa but I think the distance to Richmond would be a little costly! He will do a very thorough vetting though. Good luck whoever you choose.
