A combination of lotions and potions! but would also swear by the sportbac boots, particularly if your fields get really muddy.
Sudocream is always a favourite or udder cream.
Also found it useful to get the 'leg wraps/warmers' for the stables as it keeps there legs warm and dry especially if you dont have masses of time to ensure they are really dry

I was always told that washing the mud off is one of the worst things you can do.

Allowing the mud to dry and brushing off was what I've been recommended.

Then apply a waterproof barrier such as sudocrem or petroleum jelly with clean turnout boots on.

I used to keep my mare in in the worst of it, only because she always insisted in standing in the worst of the mud in her field.

Much appreciated advice from you all .

Why is Alfalfa bad for this problem?

Also Sallyg84 thank you for the recommend MRS cream looked at the link but couldn't find out how much it was and how you can buy it.

Sadly I can't use Sportbac boots as my boy lives out 24/7.

Athelets foot powder, my stallion has had it bad on all four heels over the past week, on one foot it was very bad, its cleared it up in days, i always apply it when hes kept in, to allow it work, then if hes going back out use sudo cream as a barrier.
