Recommend a comfortable & affordable & legal body protector pls!

So what's a good comfortable BP? I'm 5'1" and 7s 12lb with 34" bust, so am quite small and short backed.

I haven't a fortune to spend (max £100) and would like it to be competition legal to highest standard.

I love my racesafe and think they are really comfy. You can get a shorter back. I am about to replace with the new Racesafe Provent 3.0. It is 4 cm shorter on the back than the standard RS2010 which will be perfect for me but you can get even more different sizes in this model. I know an awful lot of people rate the Dainese. I haven't tried but decided to stick with Racesafe on the basis that the new one is much lighter and more comfy and I've been so happy with the RS2010. Don't know what your budget is but having bought bps for under £100 for my growing girls wouldn't do again - they were always stiff and uncomfortable in comparison. RS2010 is about £170 and the Provent £208. I think the Dainese is around £280 for the Level 3 (which is the one you want for maximum protection). Make sure its Beta 2009 as Pony club are getting rid of Beta 2000 and I think BE will follow although no plans to change the standard this year.
 
I have an Airowear Outlyne, which is Level 3 (BETA 2009). It was a bit stiff the first time I wore it but now I barely know it's there. The trick is to put it on before you tack up so by the time you mount it's heated up and moulded to you! I wear it every time I ride and have done for about 2 years now.
 
Love my Racesafe 2000. I'm a normal size adult yet I get away with a Child large size somehow. So comfy and it still looks in good nic even though I've worn it for several years now for eventing.
 
I have a Racesafe too. Most comfortable I have ever had, I have an adult short back which is great, does not touch the saddle at all.
 
Okay, thanks everyone. I'll have a look at the suggestions tomorrow. Can I buy online using my measurements or do I really need to go somewhere which stocks them and try them on for fit? Bit hard as there aren't any places close to me with an off the shelf selection to try - and probably less so cos I'm short.
 
Love my race safe! As another poster mentioned you can get a short backed one. They are two a penny and you could pick a good one up secondhand, I got mine for €50 and they retail at €220 new. Just inspect it well to make sure it's all intact :)

It does seem that the Racesafe's are very popular. To what level can you compete with them? Is a second hand one likely to be up to current standards (2009)?
 
I have an an Airowear outlyne, it's pretty comfy. I would def try in shop though as I'm slightly taller than you but couldn't get a racesafe that would fit (I think I needed child size on the back and chest but then the shoulders would've been too small, and I don't have particularly wide shoulders).

As long as it's Level 3 you will be ok. So you just need to check that as Racesafes are widely used by jockeys who will use the Level 1 back protectors. Mine is an older one and still ok to compete in.

As regards to what level you can compete to in it, I don't know I'm afraid. I don't have any plans to go beyond BE Novice and it's fine up to that!
