I have a horse that gets sore very easily around his girth area, he had a girth gall when I bought him. I had to clip him because he was very hairy, getting very hot and sweaty and I started using a neoprene girth. He hasn't been too bad in the cold weather but the last few warmer days he has been getting very hot and nudging his girth area (which is how he tells me he is uncomfortable). I think the neoprene is making him too hot so now I am on the hunt for a suitable replacement dressage girth. Any advice for a very hot and sensitive horse? I can't use a sheepskin sleeve because it ends up soaking wet and dripping in mud.
Thanks

I am interested in recommendation as mare I know suffers girth galls, she had normal cotton girth and we changed to neoprene girth.
Would leather by worth the investment?

My girl and I love the albion short girth. Lovely soft leather and a nice shape. Is wearing well so far and certainly not even a hint of a girth gall. Love it! I would say though that if you decide to go for one, go for the size shorter than you think you need as there is a generous amount of girth either side of the buckles (where the measurement is taken from) so it does come up long. Really super girth.
