Dear all,

Would anyone be able to recommend a distinguished equestrian establishment where one might stay for a week and enjoy private riding lessons? I do not have my own horse but would love the opportunity to refine my skills in an elegant yet welcoming setting.

Many thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Talland School of Equitation, would be a good place to start, great range of horses and also super schoolmasters to hone your skills at a higher level

Talland, Ingestre and Wellington are the top three in the UK, but all have their quirks. Prestige is another but a smaller set up I believe. It’s probably cheaper (and warmer) to head to Portugal which is often recommended on this forum.

There's a recent post on this here (for UK establishments): https://forums.horseandhound.co.uk/threads/adult-riding-holidays-for-training-uk.844488/

I don't think any of the places suggested have their own accommodation so you'd need to book somewhere local.

For a 'full package' then Portugal is supposed to be good (for dressage / working equitation). If you want to jump as well you might need to look at other options. There are various companies that act as agents for riding holidays and are worth a look - In The Saddle are a good one who I've used a few times.

In the Saddle organised my horseback safari. They were very helpful and knowledgeable and I felt safe travelling as a solo traveller as they had actually been on and done the holidays.

Thank you ever so much for your thoughtful recommendations—I truly appreciate your time and insight. I’m looking forward to exploring these options and, hopefully, enjoying a most delightful riding experience.
