Hi, can anyone recommend a good grass muzzle please? It's for a 12.2 pony, and needs to be suitable to wear for several hours at a time... There seems to be quite a difference in price between the more expensive ones eg. Greenguard, and the cheaper ones - is it worth spending the extra money or are the cheaper ones just as good?
thanks!

(also in SY)

I tried all the cheapy ones before I finally caved in and bought a Greenguard. All the nylon bucket style ones rubbed my horse raw

but the Greenguard has never caused any problems. If you go for the Greenguard, definitely get the matching headcollar for it, it makes the fit so much better.

personally can highly recommend the best friend muzzle. My lammi pony wears hers 24/7 throughout the summer, never rubs or anything. It was definitely worth the money. A friend of mine bought the Shires version and within the same summer she had gone through 3 muzzles which pretty much cost ehr the same as mine did in the end.

ok thanks... if i was to get a greenguard, what size headcollar would fit a 12.2 do you think? She has quite a fine small head, and I don't know whether to get Pony or Small Pony?!!

The sizes come up fairly small, my 14.2hh has a fairly fine head and the cob size just about fits on the loosest setting. They are really adjustable with lots of give either way, I'd go for pony perhaps.

Shires or best friend, these are the nylon ones in funky colours, I have one for our 10 h Shettie and my 13.1 welsh. They really stay on well...my two are good at getting headcollars off too !!! My shettie wears the bottom out of hers !!!
